He (Dutch) has owned it since 1949. I (Daniel Wiegand) have worked for Mr. Schmidt for 15 years as his pilot and mechanic. I fly the Bee but not in the water, that’s his son Karl's job. We did the restoration about 13 years ago and just this past winter added a Garmin 530. Karl started flying it this spring and is doing a good job of it. She's in and out of lake St. Clair on a regular basis these days.

Bill indicates that their Seabee will be located at Guntersville Alabama, that it is pretty much an original with a B9F Franklin and they are discussing updates etc.

I have a seabee s/n 171 here in Iceland but it has not been flying for a long time I have been thinking of installing a Continental IO-470 engine in it. I got the engine overhauled but I need for it the plate between the crankcase and the extension housing. Also I need to know the STC holder for that installation also if you can tell me someone to contact for information for the installation of the engine or if you know if the seabee that have been modified with the Continental engine are still flying or what came of them. Also if you know of any parts for the Continental engine.

Can anybody help Gudjon with his engine part problem?  Steve for IRSOC

He'll be installing a GSO-480 with 340 hp to help get off the waters of Lake Tahoe at 6,300' and over the Sierra Nevada Mountains into California and doing the work in my barn/workshop at home in Carson City, NV. The picture to the right is of my Co-Pilot and Navigator!

Update: Keith is all done wit h his Seabee! Named "Air Force Fun" (pictured to the right). Looks terrific!
